Pt Hope Google Streetview Project

In 2017, I managed a company project to put a rural Alaska Native village on the map, literally, with Google Streetview. My team worked with an ASRC shareholder entrepreneur, Amaguq Media, to support training and purchase of Google Streetview equipment. My team then supported outreach efforts with the community including organizing a series of informational meetings, and intimate community discussions, to gather support for the effort. By enabling the community of Pt Hope to be visible via Google Streetview, local village entrepreneurs can now be verified as credible merchants via Google’s standards, enabling them to sell their wares to potential customers across the internet. Click on an image below and you can visit and explore the arctic village of Pt Hope, Alaska.

An article about the Project was featured in ASRC’s quarterly Arctic Blast newsletter.
